Education Opportunities in the Arts

University of Toledo (www.utoledo.edu): With first-rate facilities and experienced faculty, the Division of Visual and Performing Arts offers excellent educational opportunities. Within the division, the Department of Art is housed in the Center for the Visual Arts, adjacent to the renowned Toledo Museum of Art. On the Bancroft Campus, the Center for the Performing Arts houses the Department of Music and Dance and the Department of Theatre and Film. Along with it's corresponding major, each department also offers a range of minors in the arts and welcomes participation by non-majors in various arts activities, ensembles, and performances.

The Department of Art offers B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in Studio Fine Art with concentrations in Ceramics, Drawing, Metalsmithing, New Media (Cyber Art and Photography), Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture, and a B.A. degree in Art History.  The Art Department also offers B.Ed. and M.Ed. degree in Art Education.   The Department of Music and Dance offers B.Ed., B.M., B.A., M.M. and M.Ed. degrees. Students can major in various instruments and voice, including instrumental and vocal jazz. The department also offers courses in modern and jazz dance and ballet.  The Department of Theatre and Film offers B.A. degrees in Film/Video and in Theatre with concentrations in Performance, Design/Technology, and Theatre Studies.

Owens Community College (www.owens.edu) School of Arts & Sciences offers transfer associate degree programs in conjunction with area four-year colleges and universities.  The School offers an Associate of Arts Degree for students in the liberal arts areas, with specific offerings in the Commercial Art (Transfer), Commercial Art Technology, Fine Art, Music Performance, Photography, Theatre. Each of the Associate of Arts degree concentrations are designed to fulfill the requirements of the Transfer Module of the Ohio Board of Regents.  The Owens Community College Center for Fine and Performing Arts is a 74,396 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility featuring a 500-seat theatre, 50-seat music hall and studio theatre, student exhibit galleries, art and design studios for graphic design, commercial art, painting, ceramics and sculpture<, acoustic laboratories and practice rooms for the instruction of dance, piano, vocal and instrumental music, and art gallery for displaying student and professional art.

Bowling Green State University (www.bgsu.edu) College of Musical Arts offers a full range of baccalaureate and graduate degree programs to a student body numbering approximately 550 under the guidance of nearly 60 distinguished full-time faculty.  Undergraduate majors are available in music education, music performance, music composition, jazz studies, world music and music history. Minors are available in jazz studies and recording technology; special curricular options include ch
